The first crew of the long trip. Brian Barnes was the skipper and they departed on Sunday 23 May from Shotley with a delivery passage across the North Sea. Their destination on this leg was Enkhuizen.
The journey across was under motor. The wind was on the nose until we got into Dutch waters and then it came from astern at force 2 - so we continued to motor. We did have some lovely sailing in the Markermeer however. We went where the wind wanted to take us. 10 miles on one tack at 7.5 knots was exhilarating.
